The Roswell Park Alliance Foundation (RPAF or the Foundation) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to maximizing the philanthropic dollars available to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (Roswell Park), supporting lifesaving research, treatment, prevention, and the psychosocial needs of patients and families. Since its founding, the Foundation has managed hundreds of millions of dollars in donations that fuel cuttingedge cancer research, clinical innovation, and patientsupport programs.

Position Summary and Role within the Foundation:
The Director of Foundation Giving serves as a division leader and is responsible for the strategy, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of charitable giving from private and corporate foundations in support of the mission of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. This role is responsible for building and managing a robust portfolio of institutional funders, developing compelling proposals aligned with Roswell Park’s clinical, scientific, and programmatic priorities, and partnering closely with organizational leadership, clinicians, and researchers to advance philanthropic funding.
Duties and Responsibilities
Portfolio Management & Strategy
- Develop, manage, and grow a portfolio of institutional funders capable of gifts and grants typically ranging from $25,000 to $1,000,000+.
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify new foundation prospects aligned with Roswell Park’s mission, programs, and scientific initiatives.
- Create and execute tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies.
Proposal Development & Grant Management
- Partner with clinicians, researchers, and program staff to understand funding needs.
- Lead writing, editing, and packaging of all proposals and funder communications.
- Coordinate internal approvals, timelines, and deliverables.
Relationship Building & Collaboration
- Serve as primary liaison to foundation program officers.
- Facilitate site visits, briefings, and meetings.
Stewardship & Reporting
- Provide exceptional stewardship and timely reporting.
- Track deadlines and documentation in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Five or more years of foundation fundraising or grant-writing experience.
- Demonstrated success securing significant foundation grants.
- Exceptional written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
