Position Summary:
BRG seeks a full-time, experienced Director of Expert Accounting. The Director of Expert Accounting will report directly to the Chief Accounting Officer. The candidate must be very flexible and highly committed to quality, customer service, teamwork and supporting Firm and department goals in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, technology, organizational, and analytical skills.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee expert accounting functions including variable compensation accrual calculations, payment scheduling, reporting distribution, and reconciliation of subledger to the general ledger
- Identify and drive process improvement initiatives by partnering with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency
- Develop and implement expert accounting cycle initiatives that achieve strategic goals consistent with the firm's priorities and vision (improve service KPI's, accuracy, efficiency and reporting reporting)
- Leverage business knowledge and expertise to analyze the expert accounting lifecycles, metrics, and KPI's to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and controls through process redesign and automation
- Collaborate with senior leadership to evaluate complex compensation structures during the expert recruiting process
- Serve as liaison with the Data Analytics team to implement database updates for new business requirements and the resolution of expert accounting issues
- Supervise and develop expert accounting team, including hiring, training, mentoring and ensuring high quality of work product
- Evaluate the performance of staff by establishing objectives and providing constructive feedback on a regular basis.
- Create and update policies and procedures to meet evolving compliance, efficiency, and internal control requirements
- Demonstrate effective problem-solving and action planning skills to improve internal and external operations.
- Prepare departmental goals and translate them into actionable plans for both individual contributors and the broader team
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational success
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting required; advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of complex compensation accounting experience
- Strong executive presence and professional image. High comfort level interacting with the highest levels of leadership
- Proven ability to manage complex processes and troubleshoot exceptions with cross-functional teams
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and v-lookups
- Demonstrated proficiency with SQL, including data querying, joins and subqueries for reporting and analysis
- A team player; a highly collaborative, team-oriented process. Leads the development of opportunities and management of team resources to grow the business
- Ability to initiate process improvements and multi-task effectively
- Excellent organizational skills, follow-up and attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Committed to quality customer service (internal and external)
- Consistent attendance and reliability
Salary Range: $175,000 - $250,000
Candidate must be able to submit verification of his/her legal right to work in the U.S., without company sponsorship.
