- DefTech Consultant- Federal Report Manager
Description
The Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO) provides funding, resources, and connections that early-stage technology and life sciences companies in Maryland need to grow and thrive. AUTM is currently looking for an independent contractor to support TEDCO’s Federal Programs, by managing and producing both federal and state reporting.
The consultants will support the activities of the TEDCO program, DefTech, and its consulting advisors, who work to connect businesses with the Federal Laboratories and Technology Transfer (T2) offices in the state. TEDCO anticipates a flexible weekly timetable that will vary with the higher weekly hours required in the quarters where reports are due. Over the period of performance, hours could fall in the range of 5-15 hours per week. The anticipated contract planned start timeframe will be early 2026.
Most support can be provided virtually, occasional meetings in the office may be requested of the consultant.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience working with federal programs reporting and supporting compliance with federal grants and contracts.
- Ability to produce BOTH the quantitative and qualitative components of federal and state reporting.
- Professional level competency with excel spread sheets, able to manage multiple interconnected spreadsheets with supporting formulas, and ability to maintain integrity of the spreadsheet data.
- Ability to take the written reports from program advisors, extract the standardized and non-standardized metric data and enter it into program tracking excel sheets.
- Strong original composition writing skills.
- Ability to take the written reports from program advisors and integrate them into one comprehensive report, providing comprehensive written analysis for both the metrics data and the supporting qualitative narrative.
- Knowledgeable of federal laboratories including knowledge of T2 mechanisms. Broader Federal Lab experience and/or experience in STEM research field or related legal experience is desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite of applications.
- Fluency in virtual meeting applications such as Teams, Zoom and Google Meet and experience using Salesforce CRM, YouTube, and other learning management system (LMS) training platforms is beneficial.
In addition to Qualifications required above, the experience below is also valuable:
- Knowledge of federal laboratories and Technology Transfer/Partnership Offices in Maryland
- Ability to identify the technology transfer needs of federal labs
- Prior work with Maryland ecosystem stakeholders
- Able to train and manage others to track and report on critical success metrics as identified in the Maryland DefTech Center Expansion Statement of Work (to be provided upon selection)
