Description
Are you an attorney looking for a great place to work? As an attorney, you will advise ATC on corporate and commercial matters, including acquisition of goods and services for ATC, contract interpretation and negotiations, general commercial legal questions, and eminent domain related land acquisitions and litigation. From time to time, you will also provide support on matters related to data privacy and protection.
As an ATC attorney, you will support the business functions of ATC by:
- Assisting and providing advice and representation in connection with commercial transactions and on real estate documents and rights.
- Providing general business guidance and advice.
- Review, draft and revise standard Company-used forms, contracts, and easements, and assist counsel and internal clients with respect to the legal sufficiency, quality and standardization of Company-used forms, contracts, and easements.
- Assist the Company’s Supply Chain department and other business functions in connection with contracts and commercial transactions and lead legal negotiation and revisions of contracts, and prepare other legal communications between Company and Company suppliers, vendors, or other third parties.
- Assist the Company’s Real Estate department and other business functions in connection with acquisition of land rights and lead legal negotiation and revision of easements, drafting of easements, and assist in management of eminent domain litigation.
- Advise and counsel the Company on various commercial provisions, including advice as to risks to the Company.
- Provide preventative legal advice to all levels of Company with respect to new case law and proposed or new laws, rules or regulations in order to anticipate and avoid legal problems where possible.
- Represent the legal department in company-wide meetings and initiatives as assigned.
Keep current with industry legal developments in areas of assigned responsibility. - Participate in and provide legal counsel for such other projects and activities as may be assigned from time to time.
- Demonstrate compliance with Company’s Code of Conduct, all Company policies, procedures, required training, and all laws and regulations that govern Company.
Requirements
Education
Law degree (JD) from an accredited law school with admission to (or eligibility for prompt admission to) the Wisconsin Bar
Experience
Minimum 4 years of experience handling a wide variety of corporate and commercial transactional matters for businesses. Strong experience in drafting and negotiation of contracts preferred. Experience with data privacy laws and related issues, real estate, and/or eminent domain litigation would be a plus.
Strong capability to interface and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with senior executives, operational management, employees, and outside representatives.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders.
Law firm experience or in-house experience in corporate and commercial law.
Strong logical and methodological approach to problem solving.
Must be comfortable with a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks simultaneously, ability to prioritize, and to engage in long-range planning.
Problem analysis and problem resolution at a strategic, tactical and operational level.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
Executive, administrative or clerical position in which employee is primarily involved with sedentary work, including keyboarding.
Requires occasional lifting of objects 10 to 15 pounds and/or light physical activity including bending, squatting, stooping, twisting, reaching, walking, standing and working on irregular surfaces.
This is a hybrid role, blending regular in-office presence with remote work flexibility.
