Description
Lake Washington School District is seeking an experienced and collaborative instructional leader to serve as the Director of Elementary Teaching and Learning. This role provides strategic leadership for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a coherent, standards-aligned instructional system grounded in high-quality Tier 1 instruction, equitable access, and strong outcomes for every student.
The Director leads the development and integration of curriculum, assessment, and instructional practices across elementary schools, ensuring alignment within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. This includes a focused emphasis on evidence-based literacy and mathematics instruction, culturally sustaining practices, and the effective use of data to inform teaching and learning.
Working in close partnership with the Learning and Leadership team, the Director advances a coherent elementary instructional program aligned with district priorities. The Director collaborates across central office divisions to ensure alignment of professional learning, instructional resources, and improvement efforts. A central responsibility of the role is strengthening principal and teacher capacity through high-quality professional learning, coaching structures, and the development of shared expectations for effective instruction.
The Director of Elementary Teaching and Learning reports to the Associate Superintendent of Learning and Leadership.
Requirements
- Master's degree required in Educational Leadership or other relevant field.
- 5+ years' experience working as a Building Administrator preferred.
- Washington State Principal Superintendent Credential preferred.
- Requires use of a personal vehicle
