Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
The Campus Safety Ambassador is responsible for securing the University of Georgia's buildings, people, and property. In conjunction with UGA's patrol division, the Campus Safety Ambassadors (CSA's) will monitor and patrol campus, conduct escorts for students on campus, respond and report incidents, and communicate any breaches of campus security. CSA's will also be trained to provide medical assistance when needed such as CPR, AED, or Narcan.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
- Some knowledge of the building and grounds patrolled, and of the location and operation of utilities.
- Ability to exercise alertness and judgment to detect, and if necessary, to report probable danger of loss or injury to life and property.
- Ability to deal effectively with employees, students, and any possible prowlers and trespassers.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform routine custodial tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Some knowledge of two-way radio communications.
- Standing/walking for long periods of time.
- Lifting up to 50lbs.
- Climbing or navigating stairs/rough terrain.
- Working outside in extreme weather conditions.

Background Investigation Policy

Campus Patrol:
- Conduct walking patrols of assigned zones/areas.
- Closes and locks doors which have been left open when necessary.
- Be a visible security presence to the campus community.
- Observe and report any suspicious activity.
- Observe and report any damage or loss to property.
Campus Safety:
- Provide walking safety escorts to students, faculty, staff, or visitors on campus.
- Observe and report any medical issues or fire hazards.
- Provide medical assistance when needed, to include CPR, AED, or Narcan.
- Operate body cameras.
Training & Development:
- Stay up to date on all related training materials including medical assistance certifications & CSA technology.
- Other duties as assigned.
