Baker Engineering, LLC's (Baker) core business centers around the design and development of high- tech, high-performance technologies for a variety of applications, from custom military and commercial engines, to engine components, to the production of parts and mechanical assemblies for other industries. Baker is a division of Waséyabek Development Company, LLC that is wholly owned by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, a Federally recognized Indian Tribe.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Automotive Machining & Assembly Technician will assist with engine testing, machining, assembly, and documentation along with other shop duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist in set-up of small engine testing
- Perform teardown and inspection of engine components and cylinder heads
- Clean and prepare parts
- Conduct measurement and computer documentation of components
- Execute machining tasks such as surfacing and grinding
- Assemble engine components and automotive assembly and repair with precision and attention to detail
- Perform assembly and documentation of fuel system components.
- Maintain and organize inventory of parts
- Assist other shop areas as requested (engine teardown, fuel pump building, etc.) as assigned by supervisor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education or experience in automotive repair and maintenance
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills
- Ability and commitment to performing high-quality work
- A strong passion for automobiles
- Must be able to perform basic math and have good reading comprehension
- Competency in computer data entry and documentation
- Experience using Microsoft Excel
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently
- Must be able to effectively communicate with supervision and team members
- Commitment to upholding Baker's core values of integrity and teamwork
- United States citizenship required per contractual obligations.
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of performance builds
- Knowledge of steering and suspension systems

Must be able to stand/walk up to 7 hours
Ability to lift up to 70 lb. occasionally

Must be able to see clearly
