- Associate Director, Staging the Future Fundraising Campaign
Description
The Old Globe seeks an experienced and highly motivated individual for the role of Associate Director, Staging the Future Fundraising Campaign, to play a key role in leading the fundraising efforts for a transformative reimagining of the Globe’s campus in Balboa Park, including the replacement of the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre and renovations to the plaza. Responsible for achieving the fundraising goal by supporting all phases of a major campaign, this position will focus on donor strategy, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and campaign operations. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy and managing a part-time Campaign Coordinator and Campaign Communications Consultant, the Associate Director will play a key leadership role in bringing this visionary project to life.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Campaign Strategy & Execution
Drive the planning and execution of a comprehensive fundraising campaign for the new outdoor festival theatre and renovated plaza, including leadership gifts, major gifts, and campaign-related initiatives.
Develop and manage campaign timelines, benchmarks, tracking tools, and progress reports.
Prepare campaign briefing materials and compelling proposals and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Envision and ensure the successful execution of campaign events, site visits, and cultivation opportunities, in partnership with Philanthropy and Events Team members, senior leadership, and Board members.
Donor & Prospect Management
Proactively manage a portfolio of campaign prospects and donors, and personally cultivate and solicit gifts at assigned levels.
Conduct prospect research in collaboration with Philanthropy Operations staff to identify and qualify new campaign donors.
Support senior leadership, Board members, and volunteer solicitors with strategy, briefing materials, and follow-up.
Stewardship & Engagement
Ensure thoughtful and timely stewardship of campaign donors, including acknowledgements, impact reporting, and special engagement opportunities tied to the new theatre and renovated plaza.
Collaborate with the Philanthropy, Marketing, and Artistic and Production Teams to align donor experiences with the Globe’s mission and artistic vision.
Collaboration & Administration
Effectively manage the part-time Campaign Coordinator and Campaign Communications Consultant to maximize their productivity and impact.
Work cross-departmentally to gather project updates, budgets, and impact narratives that support fundraising efforts.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records, campaign tracking, and reporting in Tessitura, the Globe’s CRM system.
Requirements
Minimum of 5–7 years of nonprofit development experience, with demonstrated fundraising success in multi-million-dollar capital campaigns and principal and major gifts.
Experience supporting or managing components of a comprehensive fundraising campaign preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling donor-facing materials.
Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership, volunteers, and cross-functional teams.
Passion for the performing arts and an appreciation for the mission and impact of The Old Globe.
The position may require evening and weekend hours to support donor events and campaign activities.
Salary range $100,000 - $135,000. This is a full-time position with benefits including 401(k) after first year employment. Must be able to pass applicable background check. Multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
