Position Overview
Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) invites applications for a Preclinical Assistant Professor of Dental Medicine to join the College of Dental Medicine. This faculty member will play a vital role in the foundational education of dental students by providing instruction and supervision in simulation and laboratory settings.
The successful candidate will support student learning in operative dentistry, fixed and removable prosthodontics, dental anatomy, and other essential preclinical skills, helping students develop the hand skills, critical thinking abilities, and professional standards necessary for success in the clinical phase of the curriculum.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide preclinical instruction and supervision in simulation and laboratory environments
- Teach and assess foundational dental procedures and techniques
- Evaluate student performance using established grading rubrics and assessment tools
- Mentor and support students in the development of professional competencies
- Contribute to a collaborative, student-centered learning environment
- Participate in curriculum delivery, assessment activities, and faculty meetings as assigned
Required Qualifications
- DDS, DMD, or equivalent dental degree from an accredited institution
- Proficiency in basic and advanced restorative dental procedures
- Eligibility for dental licensure or faculty permit in the state of employment (strongly preferred)
- Commitment to excellence in teaching, mentorship, and preclinical education
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience in a dental academic or simulation laboratory setting
- Familiarity with preclinical grading rubrics and assessment methods
- Experience with digital dentistry, CAD/CAM systems, or virtual simulation technologies
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, student-centered education
