Job Description:
Binghamton University (SUNY) invites applications for a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Global Public Health (GPH) in the area of Health Systems and Policy. We seek a scholar with a research focus on health policy analysis across global, national, and subnational/local tiers with emphasis on marginalized communities and people of African descent. Candidates with expertise in global health policy analysis and evaluation in the use of digital health and AI/big data in healthcare are encouraged to apply. The selected candidate should also possess collaborative and organizational skills based on experiences working with diverse global communities through partnerships on health issues, aiming to address critical global health challenges.
The selected candidate will be part of the core faculty in Binghamton University's new undergraduate Global Public Health program with tenure berth in the Africana Studies department. The Africana Studies department is a multidisciplinary department with specialties in Biobehavioral Health, Philosophy, History, Geography, Global Public Health, Literature, Religious Studies, Dance and Music. With almost 60 years since the creation of Africana Studies, the department has led cutting-edge research and scholarship on people of African descent.
Applicants should show a strong program of research and strong potential for and/or demonstrated success in securing external funding. Applicants at the associate level should further demonstrate capacity for program leadership. Methodological and geographic areas of expertise are open, but should fit the Global Public Health program's interest in phenomena that transcend borders to impact health and those that particularly compromise the health of disadvantaged groups, in low- and high-income nations alike.
The program's focus is on providing transdisciplinary training for students broadly interested in health and particularly interested in disease prevention. We are particularly interested in scholars who will capitalize on collaboration opportunities and resources within the university's Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence, Core Facilities, Harpur College of Arts and Sciences and the ongoing collaboration between Global Public Health and Digital & Data Studies (DiDa). The faculty member will be encouraged to pursue affiliation with other academic units and programs as appropriate and will have the opportunity to work with graduate students across a variety of disciplines.
Duties:
