Golf Professionals at The Vaquero Club ensure that the highest level of service is offered to the members of Vaquero by providing the member with personal, gracious and professional service.
The position will assist the professional team in the management of daily golf operations, instructional programs, tournament schedules, and additional professional services to ensure an exceptional golf experience for Members.
Experience Required
- 1-3 years previous experience in an Assistant Golf Professional role.
- Minimum- PGM program level 1 or PGA membership.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Prior experience in high-end golf club and/or hospitality industry a plus.
- Strong communication and correspondence skills with the ability to maintain sound working relationships and communications with management, staff, ownership, buyers and vendors.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to work well independently. Attention to quality and detail.
- Professional appearance and presentation.
- Requires excellent oral and written communications skills
- Good organizational skills with the ability to work independently as well as with a team, including a talent for motivating staff and members
- Computer literate, possessing skills in Microsoft Office and Outlook, including word processing and spreadsheet applications
- Ability to function under pressure, set priorities and adjust to changing conditions
- Strong work ethic, with sense of responsibility to fill a specific role within our team
Essential Responsibilities
- Complete the requirements of PGA membership and maintain an active classification in The PGA of America. Actively pursue the PGA of America's continued education programs.
- Understand the Club's culture, the Mission/ Vison/ Values, its Members and the Vaquero Club Practices.
- Provide excellent customer service, professional advice and assistance to all patrons.
- Lead by example.
- Infuse the golf program with positive energy within member and guest encounters.
- Assist in the supervision and oversee the golf operation and consistent delivery of the Vaquero Member Experience.
- Control and manage play; ensure guest check in and fee collection in coordination with the starter and golf shop.
- Responsible for managing and maintaining the Vaquero Club's golf car fleet as well as Member's leased personal golf cars
- Provide golf instruction and clinics for Members of all abilities.
- Support the Director of Golf, Head Golf Professional and Golf Committee in all golf programs and assist the professional team in providing insight and input on current topics.
- Promote golf and events through relationships with members.
- Play golf with members and stay in touch with the member experience.
- Assist in the purchasing, receipt, display, inventory, control, promotion and sales of merchandise; primarily hard goods.
- Manage the club repair and club fitting business.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times.
- Be informed on and promote all club activities and services.
- Manage the handicap program.
- Assist with the caddie program.
- Assist in discussions including tournament ideas, activities, schedules, and tee gifts.
- Assist in tournaments.
- Additional duties as requested by Director of Golf
