Description
The Assistant Director, Professional Development, designs, implements, and manages comprehensive career and professional development programs and counseling initiatives for J.D. students and graduates seeking legal careers, including regional, national and international law firms, and corporate and organization legal departments. Incumbent creates and cultivates employer interest in our law students and graduates in both existing and new legal markets throughout the United States.
Job Summary
Provides group and individual student coaching, assessments, and evaluations to foster professional development and career possibilities. Acts as resource and maintains network of professional external and University contacts to introduce student career opportunities. Promotes the career center and drives outreach.
Essential Functions
Provides career advising/counseling to law students and recent graduates
Provides guidance on resume writing, interview preparation, job searching strategies, and other career-related skills
Grows and cultivates relationships with existing employer contacts; establishes relationships with new employer contacts
Maintains a network of contacts with law firms, business, non-profit, and government employers to facilitate and expand job opportunities, internships, work assignments, immersion opportunities, and other career opportunities for students
Participates in broader legal community initiatives, associations, organizations, etc.
Develops, delivers and supports programming to facilitate the professional development of students and recent alumni (including planning, coordinating, and leading workshops and programs that address career exploration, resume writing, job searching, professional networking, and interviewing skills; planning and executing career fairs, networking events, and other employer connection opportunities)
Administers and interprets assessments and other tests and evaluates results to match students’ strengths, interests, aptitudes, and personalities to career options and identify opportunities for further development
Requirements
Physical Effort Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Additional details about Required Licensure/Certification Juris Doctor preferred Also, a minimum of 2-3 years postgraduate experience in law or legal recruiting. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted per university guidelines
Work Schedule Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Work Arrangement Hybrid: Combination of On-Campus and Remote work as determined by the department.
