Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. The Weapons Production Directorate is seeking motivated Area Controllers (Operations Support Specialist 2) to provide 24/7 operational coverage for the C-Shift (Days; four 10-hour shifts, Fri – Mon, 6am – 4:30pm) and D-Shift (Nights; four 10-hour shifts, Fri – Mon, 5pm – 3:30am). In this role, you will facilitate safe, compliant, and efficient work execution at Technical Area 55 (TA-55) and support critical nuclear operations within PF-4, P-5, and other designated nuclear facilities. This is an onsite role in Los Alamos, NM, and relocation assistance is available. The salary range for this position is $71,200 – $112,900.
You will:
- Coordinate and support daily work execution and floor scheduling within PF-4, P-5, and other nuclear areas to meet production priorities
- Ensure work is performed safely and in compliance with approved procedures, security requirements, and operational standards, including stopping work when necessary
- Facilitate communication and coordination between work organizations, area controllers, execution managers, and operations leadership
- Support schedule quality checks, shift briefings, incident investigations, and issue management activities
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree with four (4) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of nuclear or complex facility operations, including Integrated Safety Management, Conduct of Operations, scheduling, and Integrated Work Management
- Strong critical-thinking, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- Proficiency with project management, business, and computing systems; experience with manufacturing or operational scheduling preferred
- Eligibility to obtain a DOE Q Clearance (U.S. citizenship required); experience in radiological or nuclear environments and familiarity with DOE orders and Laboratory policies preferred
