The University of Michigan, Department of Cardiac Surgery, Section of Adult Cardiac Surgery is seeking a full-time cardiac surgeon at the Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor level. This position is a faculty appointment in the University of Michigan Medical School with clinical responsibilities solely at University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Lansing. The surgeon will have the responsibility of performing complex adult cardiac and thoracic surgery. On-call coverage is required and will be shared with fellow faculty. Rank of selected candidate is dependent upon qualifications.
UM Health-Sparrow has grown to become the region's largest health system, and its diverse range of facilities offer some of the most advanced medical technology available in the world. The UM Health-Sparrow Heart and Vascular program include a 40,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility with dedicated inpatient units exclusively focused on various levels and types of cardiac care, and Lansing Heart & Vascular, which provides outpatient heart and vascular services across mid-Michigan and Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery for patients needing open heart, vascular and thoracic surgeries. This position is an integral role within Michigan Medicine’s statewide cardiac surgery service line and will collaborate with the academic medical center in Ann Arbor and current Michigan Medicine cardiac surgery programs across the state.

Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree.
- Board certified/board eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS) or acceptable equivalents listed below.
- American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
- Royal College of Physicians of London (RCP)
- The Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS)
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited cardiothoracic surgery residency.
- Proficient in all aspects of adult cardiac surgery with excellent technical skills.
- A proven track record of high-quality outcomes
- Must hold or obtain a full, unrestricted medical license in the State of Michigan.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience.
